Why Is It So Hard to Live Organized?

Why Is It So Hard to Live Organized?

Most people struggle with getting organized because of clutter on the inside. There is a connection between internal and external clutter that is often overlooked.

This does not mean that having a clutter-free home is impossible. It simply means that we need to explore what is happening internally so we can create better systems to manage the clutter we see externally.

Four Areas of Internal Clutter

  1. Lack of Motivation

To overcome a lack of motivation, a clear goal must be in place. A goal provides direction and helps you envision where your organizing journey can take you.

New Year… and Nothing New

New Year… and Nothing New

This time of year makes me cringe a little. 😬
Not because I don’t love fresh starts—but because I know the emotional roller coaster that often comes with them.

For an organizing project to be successful, managing expectations isn’t optional. It’s essential.

Five Actions to Help You Manage Expectations

  1. Be realistic

Can the entire garage truly be organized in one day—or would two days be more realistic? Will you need help? A helpful rule of thumb is to double the amount of time you think a project will take.

Another example:
Do your child’s Le...
