Does decision-making come easily to you?
For many of us, it feels simpler to call every possession a “treasure” than to part with it.
But what can you do when everything seems to hold value?
The first step is understanding that not every item can be a treasure.
We need a thoughtful process to separate what truly matters from what simply takes up space.
✨ When we pause and reflect on what lasts forever, our perspective shifts.
The things of this world are temporary — and recognizing this can bring surprising clarity and peace.
“What we hold onto here, we won’t need where we’re headed next.”
Also, remember — the choices we avoid making today may become a burden for those we love tomorrow.
By taking action now, we free ourselves and those around us from future stress.
1️⃣ Start with a moment of calm.
Before you begin, take a deep breath. Center yourself.
If you’re faith-oriented, you might invite the Holy Spirit into your space.
If not, simply set an intention for clarity and peace.
2️⃣ Walk through your home, room by room.
Go slowly. Look around each space as if you’re seeing it for the first time.
What do you notice? What have you accumulated?
Start writing it all down — every item, big or small.
3️⃣ Categorize using a simple number system.
1 – Keeper: Functional, useful, or deeply meaningful.
2 or 3 – Maybe: You’re unsure, and that’s okay.
4 – Let It Go: No longer serves you or your space — ready to be donated or discarded.
📝 Writing everything down helps you see what you truly have — and what you can release.
I often ask my clients one simple but profound question:
“Why are your treasures stored out of sight?”
A real treasure is meant to be enjoyed — not tucked away in a box.
If something is truly valuable, let it add beauty or meaning to your life.
If the items don’t fit your style or life, they may become clutter.
Offer them to other relatives, or consider donating proceeds to a cause your loved one supported.
This honors their memory without burdening your space.
But are they? If you’re paying for storage, it might be time to sell.
An item’s true worth is what someone is willing to pay now.
Ask them gently — if they say yes, tag the item with their name.
If not, freely donate or sell it.
When we call something a “treasure,” our minds hold on tightly.
But when we recognize that earthly possessions are temporary, letting go becomes an act of freedom.
By sharing what we have with others — through donation or gift —
we make room not only in our homes but in our hearts.
✨ We loosen our grip on the temporary and open ourselves to what lasts.
