Living in an organized space comes naturally for some…
but for others, it can feel like a daily struggle.
And if you’re living with someone who tends to leave things out, pile things up, or simply organize differently — it can feel even more overwhelming.
Let’s talk about that today.
How can you create an organized home when you’re living with a “clutterbug”?
Here are five gentle and practical ways to help you move forward — together.

π 1. Understand That Everyone Organizes Differently
One of the biggest mindset shifts is this:
Not everyone organizes the same way — and that’s okay.
You may be the type who loves everything tucked away and in its proper place.
But others in your home may be more visual — meaning they need to see things to remember them.
For them, “out of sight” can truly feel like “out of mind.”
Instead of forcing one system, try meeting in the middle:
β Clear storage bins
β Labels
β Open shelving
β Shallow baskets
These small adjustments can make a big difference for everyone.
Because an organized home should work for everyone living in it — not just one person.
ποΈ 2. Choose Your Words Carefully
This one matters more than we sometimes realize.
It’s easy to feel frustrated…
and even easier to let that frustration come out in our words.
But name-calling, shaming, or harsh comments will never lead to lasting change.
Instead, they leave a mark that can stay with someone for a long time.
When you feel that frustration rising, pause.
Take a breath.
Slowly count to 10.
This small moment can help you respond with kindness instead of reaction.
And yes — it takes practice.
And yes — it takes patience (and prayer π).
But each day gives you another opportunity to try again.
π‘ 3. Create “Clutter-Free Zones”
Instead of trying to control the entire home all at once, start small.
Choose 1–2 shared spaces to keep clutter-free.
For example:
These are high-traffic areas that can easily become overwhelming.
Once you’ve chosen your spaces:
β Communicate clearly
β Set simple expectations
β Create a daily reset routine
You can also decide together what happens to items left behind after a certain time.
The key here is to be:
π Clear
π Consistent
π Kind
This is a new system for everyone — give it time.
πΏ 4. Be the Example
One of the most powerful things you can do?
Lead by example.
Practice your own systems consistently.
Let others see what “organized” looks like in action.
It’s even helpful to say things out loud:
"It’s been a busy day, and I haven’t been putting things away… let me take a moment to reset."
This creates awareness — without pressure.
Because if we’re not using our own systems, we can’t expect others to follow them.
π― 5. Work Toward a Shared Goal
Organization becomes much easier when there’s a shared purpose.
I once worked with a client who wanted her husband’s belongings cleared from the basement.
Instead of forcing the change, she introduced a vision:
β¨ A family media space
β¨ A place for movies and games
β¨ Even a small “man cave” area
Suddenly, it wasn’t about removing clutter —
it was about creating something meaningful together.
And that changed everything.
Motivation often grows when there is intention behind the effort.
π A Gentle Reminder
Living with disorganized habits — whether yours or someone else’s — can be challenging.
But it is not impossible.
It will take:
β Time
β Patience
β Grace
β Prayer
There are no shortcuts here.
But slow and steady progress will always be worth it.
So let me ask you gently…
Are you willing to do your part? π
