1. Just say “NO”
This is empowering! You don’t have to be all things to everyone. Be selective with your time. Decide what is most important to you and only choose those activities & commitments that are most important to YOU.
2. Make yourself a priority
Seriously….you can’t serve others if you don’t take care of YOU. Are you up to date on all of your preventive medical tests?
Do you exercise?
How are your eating habits?
Is there somewhere here you can make a definite change?
3. Time Out
Know when to say when. This is the adult kind of time out that involves unplugging and doing something to soothe you or nothing at all. Put yourself in a time out when you are not in the best frame of mind. This allows you to prevent an unfortunate reaction you can’t take back.
4. Turn away from negativity
This one can be difficult especially if the negative people are close to you. Keep them at a distance when possible and distract yourself with positive thoughts. When holding a positive thought it is impossible to hold a negative one. The brain is super helpful in that way. Your positivity has the power to transform others.
5. Do that thing you’ve always felt called to do
Go for it! There is a reason behind it. God has put that intention before you. Don’t ignore it, you may be able to empower someone else while empowering yourself.
