“In order to unlock the full potential of a closet or room you must have the right key to unlock the door!" - Darlene Illig
A door can do many things, have you stopped to consider how it could help you become better organized? The one tip I share in almost every client home I enter is to use the door to improve efficiency and maximize space.
Let’s talk about why the door is such a good space for organizing:
- It is open storage which works really well for people who are visual and do not want things put away so that they forget about them.
- This is free space that was never allocated to anything else.
- Simple organizing accessories work, there is no need for a complicated system to be used.
BEST PRODUCTS
These products have been used by myself and my clients. (I do receive a fee if you purchase using my link but this is not at any extra charge to you)
- Over The Door Shoe Organizer- I have talked about this a lot, in fact I use at least 3 in my home unrelated to shoes! They can be used on any door, so think of the coat closet( hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, sunscreen, bug spray, flashlight, etc). 24 pockets will give you a lot of ability to get any closet organized.

- Over the Door Hooks Rack- This is great for bringing order to your closet. Hang your purse, hat , frequently worn sweater, belt or even the lanyard for work all here to have it at your fingertips) This one by LYNK has 9 hooks! Think of all the places you could use this!

- Over Door Organizer with Five Large Pockets - (10 mesh side pockets that holds 44 lbs) Perfect for use in the nursery, linen closet, craft area or a children’s play area. Don’t let me pin you down to these uses, find some of your own. Maximizing the open storage and vertical height of the back of a door can really give you extra space to keep things in order. It’s free space so why not put it to good use!

The goal of this blog was to open your minds to other spaces you probably haven’t used in your organizing along with a few examples of inexpensive items to use.
