Living Organized Through Meal Planning

Uncategorized Feb 11, 2025

What’s for dinner? This age old question can be one of the most annoying ones. Mostly because there is no answer this question. If we could find a way to answer the question, it would feel good. Not only would it feel good, it would be good to make this an opportunity to live organized.

Let’s talk about creating a meal plan for the week’s meals. In this method, you will have everything you need to solve the meal time mystery.

(This blog contains affiliate links which I make a small amount of money from if you use the link to purchase. This helps to keep the blog coming to you.) The good news is that there is not extra charge to you when you purchase.

  1. Match up meal with what is going on that evening. If there is an activity planned, pick something quick and easy. If there is no activity on the calendar, prepare something that takes a little more time.
  2. Have a rotation of at least 8-10 recipes that can also have meat substitutions such as beef for chicken. I know that sounds like a lot but I bet you can think of 8 meals you cook regularly, jot them down.
  3. Of these recipes, have at least 3 that are quick and easy to prepare. Ex: soup and sandwich, breakfast, sloppy Joes, etc. The ingredients for these 3 meals should be always on hand. They are your saving grace on a busy night.
  4. Use your resources.
    • Crock pots are a great way to have a hot meal that you can serve up quickly. A programmable one works great, set the time and wait for it to cook for you.
    • Instapots are also invaluable in cooking and in so many ways. You can even make yogurt in them.
    • Dutch ovens offer one pot cooking and are great for cooking meat because you can broil, braise, bake or roast in them.
  5. Need meal ideas? Use websites. Here are a few that I love:

BONUS TIP: When you find the recipe save it to a folder on your phone. This has been a game changer!! This way I have the recipe handy.

I used to struggle through making dinner every night and it wasn’t because I couldn’t cook. It was because I didn’t know what I was going to cook. By the time I would come up with something, it would take forever to cook and dinner was served late. Once I began my organizing journey, I knew I had to tackle this aspect of life that really was like clutter to me. My hope is that you will be able to live more organized.
