IT'S OKAY TO SLIP

Uncategorized Jun 18, 2016

So, you were excited to become more organized! You noticed your life got a lot easier and your family a little happier. You can find things around your house and your never late anymore. It is quite an accomplishment and you should be excited!!!!! Congratulations!!! I am so happy for YOU.

What happens when you fall off the proverbial wagon of organization?? What happens when all of those nicely de-cluttered spaces are a mess?
What happens when you are finding yourself slipping back into the old habits??

Let me say this to you, DON"T PANIC!!!!!! It will happen from time to time as life happens around you.  I would say you should evaluate WHY your organization is slipping.
-Is it because you are a little busier now than you were before?
-Is it because you've been sick?
-Maybe you are stressed about something else in your life and don't have the energy right now to focus on organizing.
-Could it be that your organizational system is too complicated for you to sustain?
-Are you fighting the people you live with to work with your system?

Whatever the reason, cut yourself some slack because there is nothing good that will come from you beating yourself up over it. This too shall pass. Chances are it that it may not be as bad as you think.

Once you've identified what caused this disruption of your organizational nirvana is it up to YOU to take the necessary steps to reset it back to what you had created.

How??? RESET and REDO
Reset yourself to where you began the organizational process. What did your organizational nirvana look like? Get out the picture and remind yourself of where you wanted to be and how you wanted the space(s) to look.
Redo by starting with a 15 minute organizational project. This is a great way to recharge and reignite the spark that lit your fire to get to your organizational nirvana. One thing you may want to look is the complexity of your organizational system. If it is too complicated then you may need to tweak it a little making it easier to sustain. Sometimes, you can reset the system in a short amount of time, if it is situational. By this I mean caused by a particular situation. Just start with one area at a time.  Then you can make a plan and set a deadline to complete it.

This isn't over, you will have times when you are more organized than others. As long as your system stays in place you can easily get back on track. If you let the whole system fall apart then the work is a little harder but not impossible. NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE!!!

If you feel like your organizational system is not working, it is a call to stop and figure out why. Then and only then can you continue to move forward.

Until next time,
Darlene
