IN HONOR OF MOMS

Uncategorized Jun 18, 2016

Mother's day may be over but it is never too late to honor your mother.

I personally think that you should honor your mom each and every day! Every day moms must be ready to answer the call to provide the physical or emotional support at any level. No two days are alike. No two children are alike. No crisis is like the other. How can we be celebrated for doing all that? It is our call. The moments that give us pause for celebration come when we least expect them. A "thank you", a random hug, an "I love you" or the very rare, "you were right!" We may have to go for days, weeks or years without hearing these beautiful words.

Our spiritual motherhood carries us through those times. Sometimes sweet memories help too. I know that I use those alot in dealing with my teenagers!! I find a sweet memory from when they were little and cling to that! Some of us may never get these moments. What carries them through when they have a troubled or infirmed child? God, will carry them through. He calls us to motherhood and it is important we seek him through daily prayer to guide us through. We need His grace, we didn't become mothers on our own and we can't follow this vocation  on our own. Each of us needs to practice our spiritual lives to keep us the heart and soul of our families.

How do we practice our spiritual lives??
1 belief in God
2. prayer-alone
3. surround ourselves with other spiritually driven women
4. prayer with your children
5. Quiet time
6.  Journaling with prayer alone or with spouse
7 Go to church
8. Be around nature; take a walk outside
9. Music that soothes the soul
10. Reading things that challenge you deep down in your soul

So take the time to make the time to take care of YOU. I've heard people say that just sounds selfish! My kids come first! These are great thoughts but guess what happen sin reality?? Moms who feel this way build up resentment inside themselves without even knowing it. Not all, but the majority become "yellers". You've heard them, yelling constantly at their children n matter whey they are. Or they become helicopters, just hovering. Why?? Well, its' because they haven't done anything to nurture their interests. At this point in time, their interests are all about the child's interests. This can be very smothering and backfire in the end.

In honor of Mother's Day and motherhood, take the time to nurture your you. Feed your soul, make yourself healthy inside and out. This will allow you to step it up a notch-bring your "A" game every time.
